Is Your Partnership Effective?: An Analysis of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Math and Science Partnership
In 2002, The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) was awarded a five-year grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Math Science Partnership (MSP). The grant supports the development of a partnership of CMSD, John Carroll University, Cleveland State University, and Case Western Reserve University to increase the achievement of CMSD students in science and math in grades 6-12. The method employed by the Cleveland MSP to achieve this goal is the provision of graduate courses and workshops on math and science content and inquiry pedagogy for CMSD teachers. One of the goals of our evaluation was to investigate various aspects of the Cleveland MSP that were effective or ineffective between partners from separate higher educational institutions.
